Gregarious,
Frugilegus,
Intelligent
and
Loud
If you've seen
one Rook
then chances are
you've seen a crowd
A group of Rooks
is called sometimes
a Parliament or Clamour,
sometimes a Storytelling
filled with iridescent Glamour
Invertebrates
and Carrion
are eaten
in the
Rookery
No need for
these big birds
to practice
any kind of
Cookery

I'm really enjoying this project again this year. It's a lot of fun doing research on all these beautiful birds and creating my 100% AI-free poems. It makes the world seem bigger and brighter to know that all these species are out there.
Here are all the Birdtober posts so far:
Jama is hosting Poetry Friday today.

What fun to learn about rooks! Your poem made me smile as it ended with ʼcookery.ʼ
Your poem about rooks uses rhymes and it cooks! Well done, Ruth - and that's the truth!
I appreciate all of the word play you used throughout the poem. Thanks for teaching me a new word - Frugilegus!
Delightful, Ruth! And I admire you for being able to use the word "Frugilegus" in a poem. Awesome!
Impressive rhyming, Ruth, and thanks for the new to me "frugilegus"!
Now I'm wondering if the rook (bird) gifted its name to the rook (chess piece)... Such a delight to learn along with you, Ruth.
