Poetry Friday and Birdtober Day 16: Blue-capped Cordonbleu

We have a cordonbleu species where I live, but it's the Red-cheeked Cordonbleu. It's the same shade of pale blue as this one.

So much blue!

Blue in the blue cap

Blue in the cordonbleu

Blue in the scientific name

(Uraeginthus cyanocephalus)

Blue in the sky way above

the little bird pulling termites

out of the tree trunks

and bugs

off the ground.

So much blue!

Blue is my favorite color, in the sky, on a bird, blue topaz, and blueberries. Thanks for sharing this beautiful bird.

I love that last line, "so much blue" It's great because of the color and the emotion that can be communicated.

Gorgeous bird! Oh, how I wish his blue would light up my branches. Your bird series is wonderful! Thanks for sharing.

Ruth, you are bringing Bluetober again to us and I am loving your poem today. I have never seen a bluebird like this one, so thank you for the video and poem to start my day.

Oh to have birds in Oregon of that color. The last line is a swoon.

Because sometimes there's not enough blue in the sky, so we are gifted with cordonbleu! Blue-tiful!
