I almost used a different prayer, one that encapsulates your final lines: "We plant the seeds that one day will grow; we water seeds already planted, knowing they hold future promise." (read it here: https://www.spiritualityandpractice.com/practices/practices/view/28469/oscar-romeros-prayer). Both speak powerfully to our difficulty with letting time do its work. I imagine a God smiling, shaking her head at us, and loving us in spite of ourselves.
Hurray for Birdtober! I always love the birds and poems I meet on your blog, Ruth...and DH and I were just talking about Hawaii, so how fun to meet a Hawaiian bird! Thank you. xo
Ruth: I hadn't seen "seeds, not switches." Excellent! As always, I love your bird poems and sightings. Great lilac breasted poem. Thank you for your insights about looking back to see change and consider our wasted worrying. True!
