Yesterday I posted my One Little Word for this new year, POSSIBILITY. I'm using Emily Dickinson's poem "I Dwell in Possibility" as my text, and you can read it here.
I decided to write my own Possibility poem in imitation of Emily, and here it is:
Possibility
I dwell in Possibility —
I peer out of my Gate
And wonder what Surprises
And Happiness await.
Perhaps a new Adventure
Is just around the Bend
Or maybe just a little Walk
With a familiar Friend.
I’m off to gather Paradise
And bring an Armload Home —
I’ll spread it out upon the Floor
To make the Evening bloom.

What's your OLW for the year? Post it in the comments, or better yet, post it in yesterday's comments, and I'll link you in my roundup!

Dear Ruth, I am in love with this poem! Thank you for channeling your inner Emily and making my morning bloom. xo
Spot on, Ruth! I love the whole thing, but that last stanza especially makes my heart smile.
It's a lovely anticipation of the new year, Ruth. I love that final verse, too, the spreading out for evening celebration.
How lovely to think of the new year as a surprise just waiting to be discovered. I haven't chosen my OLW yet, but love the sound of yours.
This poem has such a happy sound. The happy sound of possibility. I wish I was that familiar friend walking with you. Enjoy unpacking the possibilities of your year.
Possibility is such a beautiful great word. And your poem speaks to so many possibilities. Thanks for sharing.
This is beautiful! That final stanza is my favorite but the whole poem is a delight. Possibility is such a positive word!
This is so lovely, Ruth. And, as others have commented, the last stanza is glorious! Happy New Year!
What a great word! This poem is bubbling with possibilities!
Gorgeous poem Ruth, I love it, it's so light and airy, filled with wonder and "Possibility."
Yes to POSSIBILITY and to "gathering paradise!"
Wow two great possibilities! Just fabulous.
Ruth, using Emily's poem as a mentor text opened the world of possibility up to you. Well done!
Your poem is lovely, and definitely gathers much possibility. I wish you many adventures!
