It's August! As always on the first day of the month, the Daily Photo bloggers are holding a Theme Day. This month, they are posting photos of
a typical breakfast where they live. The link will take you to Sharon, CT, and from there you can go to the other 98 sites participating.

One of the things that surprised about "Hungry Planet" was the variety of breakfasts around the world. I'd travelled to some European countries, and their breakfasts aren't that different from ours (except the stewed tomatoes in England, that was weird :^). In Costa Rica, the typical breakfast was a plate of fruit (banana, watermelon, papaya, and pineapple most places we ate), beans and rice, eggs [not for me, ick] + sausage or bacon. Maybe toast. I could get into beans and rice every morning - especially if someone else was preparing it! :^)
It's true - there's a huge variety of stuff people can eat for breakfast! In England I've been served spaghetti on toast for breakfast. In Haiti I've eaten herring. I like herring, but it's a bit of a strong taste first thing in the morning. In Japan I've had salad for breakfast.
In Israel they eat salad-y things too - cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, non-sweet yogurt.... Or we did in the summer 20+ years ago when I lived on a kibbutz! Thanks for the link and the kind words about my "break" - I must say I'm enjoying NOT feeling like I need to whip out my camera every second!
