And the New Ambassador is...

The new Ambassador for Young People's Literature is Katherine Paterson.

Thanks for posting that link. I didn't recognize the name, but I have read Bridge to Terabithia so I guess I am familiar with her. I just requested The Sign of the Chrysanthemum from the library.

I liked this quote in the article: She has never considered writing for adults. “When people say, ‘Don’t you want to write for adults?’ I think, why would I want to write a book that would be remaindered in six weeks?” Ms. Paterson said. “My books have gone on and on, and my readers, if they love the book, they will read it and reread it. I have the best readers in the world.”

I love Katherine Paterson too! I think she is a wonderful choice. She's written such a variety of books.

I finally managed to read The Sign of the Chrysanthemum and it is so different from Bridge to Terabithia, that's for sure! Powerful story, though.
