Shhh, I'm sneaking in here while eighth graders do silent reading to post the fourth line! Robyn at Read, Write, Howl contributed today's addition. The poem now reads:
If you are reading this
you must be hungry
Kick off your silver slippers
Come sit with us a spell...
OK, off to patrol the silent readers!

Your sneaking in during silent reading time made me laugh. I think I did something of that sort - though not on a blog - back when I taught. Too funny.
I really enjoy the idea of a progressive poem. Thanks for sharing it!
I used to play "dots" during silent reading time in middle school. This must have been just before gym class, because we were always on the bleachers. I was a student, though, not a teacher. (And I read tons on my own, so I thought enforced reading time was dumb.)
