Poetry Month - Day 11

I heard this poem on a podcast called Poem of the Day.  You can find it at iTunes.  The poet read it herself, after explaining that it's not easy for her to write about happiness.

Small Moth
by Sarah Lindsay

She's slicing ripe white peaches
into the Tony the Tiger bowl
and dropping slivers for the dog
poised vibrating by her foot to stop their fall

Click here to read the last five lines and to see why this poem is an exception to Lindsay's rule about happiness.

Good morning, Ruth. It's a beautiful poem. The images of the white peaches and the Tony the Tiger bowl -- happiness in specificity. Why not celebrate small moments?

It's beautiful, Ruth. I like that time in the morning, doing little tasks, just having a good time. She has captured it for all of us, hasn't she? Thanks for discovering & sharing!
