Poetry Friday: Sunflakes

Sunflakes

by Frank Asch

If sunlight fell like snowflakes,
gleaming yellow and so bright,
we could build a sunman,
we could have a sunball fight,
we could watch the sunflakes
drifting in the sky.

Here's the rest.

We're about halfway through the summer; enjoy today's sunflakes! It'll be back to school before you know it!

Robyn has today's roundup.

What a fun poem, Ruth! I love sunflakes falling from the sky --and will look for them today (enjoying some winetasting in the very warm central valley of CA)!

Ruth, thanks for sharing a poem new to me that is a creative, pure fun poem to read. When troubles hang around, I shall think of sunflakes bringing joy. I hope your vacation is full of peace so your entry back into school will be an exciting journey back to reality.

This is so delightful, Ruth. Thank you! Our 'sunflakes' are bringing us very hot days this week! And the stores are already creating the Scholl supply areas. Yes, it'll be here soon! Keep enjoying your break!

I'll try to channel the joy in the poem as our temperatures soar this week. Attitude is everything! (And air conditioning doesn't hurt!)

I'm looking out now at our very hot summer day and wondering what it would look like and feel like if the sunflakes were accumulating. Thanks for the smile-making poem today.

I'm imagining sunflakes on a snowy day, providing a nice counter-balance. :)
