Birdtober Day Three: Macaroni Penguin

Why are these guys called Macaroni Penguins? Here’s eBird’s explanation: “Disappointingly, named for the resemblance of its spiffy, 'fashionable' crest to the hairstyle of fashionable youth, or 'macaronis', and not for the pasta-sauce-orange color of the crest itself.”

Macaroni
Faithful spouse
In matrimony,
Makes a scrape
With ceremony,
Throws out one egg
